Saudi Vision 2030 Housing Projects Boost Non-Oil GDP by $7.2B

Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Housing Program, a cornerstone of the Vision 2030 framework, has significantly bolstered the nation’s non-oil economy, as it has since 2021 injected approximately 27 billion riyals ($7.2 billion) into the Kingdom’s non-oil GDP. Furthermore, it has generated more than 72,000 private sector jobs since 2019, according to a recent official report, underscoring the program’s success.

The program significantly boosts home ownership while dynamically strengthening the entire real estate market ecosystem across the Kingdom. Specifically, its flagship Sakani initiative aided 1.3 million Saudi families by 2024 through comprehensive support mechanisms and solutions. Contractors completed more than 850,000 housing units recently, and authorities granted direct assistance to 122,000 families this year alone. Therefore, tangible progress toward the 70% home ownership target by 2030 is now clearly evident and accelerating.

Sakani Platform Revolutionizes Access and Choice

Sakani serves as a powerful one-stop digital gateway where citizens seamlessly apply for support and instantly check eligibility using government systems. Consequently, users explore diverse options including ready homes, off-plan sales, serviced land, and self-build schemes efficiently. Moreover, the initiative expanded ownership access by providing nearly 70,000 down payment subsidy packages nationwide recently.

Simultaneously, banks issued 759,000 subsidized loans to low-income households, exceeding 91 billion riyals in new financing during 2024. This surge demonstrates robust market confidence and improved affordability pathways significantly.

Additionally, the report confirms a major shift from housing scarcity toward balanced supply and demand across Saudi cities. Consequently, product diversity increased substantially alongside stricter quality standards, enhancing overall market health and stability effectively. Ultimately, this program remains central to building a vibrant society and thriving economy as Vision 2030 envisioned. Therefore, Saudi authorities affirm its crucial role in elevating quality of life and driving sustainable urban growth nationwide.
