VIDEO – Any US Strike on Iran Hinges on Politics, Not Firepower: Abbas Dahouk

In a recent interview on Al Arabiya TV, retired Colonel Abbas Dahouk, the former military advisor to the US Department of Foreign Affairs for the Middle East, shared his insights on the potential military operation against Iran.

Dahouk began by addressing the warnings from the President of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stating, “This kind of comments from the President of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is a normal thing in terms of the size of this operation, which requires lots of resources.” However, he emphasized that the concern is not just the operation itself but the strategic dimensions and potential shortages that could follow.

Potential Outcomes

When asked about the size of the potential attack, Dahouk explained that the outcome would depend on Iran’s response to diplomatic negotiations. He noted, “If Iran comes up with a solution, which is not acceptable to the United States, then the outcome of the military operation will be more destructive, perhaps. An extensive military campaign.” However, if the response is somewhat acceptable but does not meet President Trump’s demands, the operation might be limited.

Targets and Regional Dynamics

Dahouk highlighted specific targets such as Natanz, Esfahan, and Fordow, as well as the leadership of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Iranian scientists. He stressed,”The issue extends beyond just military operations; it also includes non-military movements against Iran.” He also touched on Israel’s concerns, indicating that Israel wants to ensure Hezbollah does not take action. Dahouk’s comments provide valuable insights into the complex dynamics at play in the region.

As the situation continues to evolve, the insights from retired Colonel Abbas Dahouk shed light on the intricate geopolitical considerations and potential outcomes of a military operation against Iran.
