Who is Adel Al-Jubeir, Saudi Arabia’s first climate envoy
Saudi Arabia has recently announced the nomination of Adel Al-Jubeir, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, as envoy for climate issues.
Who is Adel Al-Jubeir?
Adel bin Ahmed bin Muhammad Othman Al-Jubeir, sometimes known as Adel Al-Jubeir, is a Saudi Arabian politician.
From April 29, 2015, to December 27, 2018, he served as Saudi Arabia’s fifth foreign minister.
Foreign Affairs Minister of State
Since 2018, he has been a member of the Cabinet.
Since May 29, 2022, the Kingdom’s first envoy for climate issues.
Al-Jubeir holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas, USA, in Economics and Political Science
He also holds a master’s degree in political science and international relations from Georgetown University in Washington.
He has nearly 30 years of diplomatic experience, including stints at the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Washington, D.C., and the United Nations in New York.
He previously held the position of the Kingdom’s ambassador to Washington.
Adel Al-Jubeir was born in the city of Majmaah, which is located north of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital. In Saudi Arabia, for a traditional and prestigious family,
His father worked as a cultural attaché at the Saudi embassy in Germany, Lebanon, and Yemen.
He received his basic education in Germany, Lebanon, and Yemen, while his father worked in those countries as a cultural attaché.
During his stay and studies, he moved about a lot, which helped him learn the languages of the nations he visited or resided in, such as English, German, and French, and to learn about the cultures of the countries he visited.
After the September 11 attacks, Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir returned to the United States to answer many of the questions and criticisms directed at the country at the time.
Saudi Arabia was defended against terrorism claims by Al-Jubeir, who went to great lengths to deny that Saudi Arabia is a hotbed of extreme Islam.
The announcement did not include details of Al-Jubeir’s term of office.
He also has previously held the position of foreign minister and ambassador to Washington, and will continue his duties at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
