Dr. Gad El-Qady, General Secretary of the Arab League for Astronomy and Space Sciences and former President of the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics, stated that according to astronomical calculations, a total solar eclipse will occur on April 8, 2024. However, people in Egypt or any Arab country will not be able to see it, according to Ahram.
This eclipse will be seen partially in Western Europe – the Atlantic Ocean – North America and northern South America – the Pacific Ocean, while it will be a total eclipse in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
The partial eclipse will begin exactly at 5:40 pm Cairo local time, and the peak of the total eclipse will be at 8:17 p.m. The partial eclipse will end at 10:52 p.m., lasting a time period of approximately five hours and ten minutes, while the total eclipse will last approximately 4 minutes.
Solar and lunar eclipses eclipses are natural astronomical phenomena that occur annually in different regions of the world. The Arab region will witness a total solar eclipse in August 2027. Authorities warned citizens in the areas that will witness the eclipse not to look at the sun with the naked eye because this may lead to blindness.
