US Pentagon is studying ways to provide military help to Ukraine

The White House confirmed that the US Department of Defense “The Pentagon” is studying ways to help Ukraine militarily in the war with Russia that has been going on since the 24th of last month.

White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said in a press conference on Wednesday that NATO defense ministers are discussing the issue of providing Ukraine with combat aircraft.

She noted that it is appalling to use military force against civilians in Ukraine.

In parallel, she stressed that the US does not oppose Poland’s plans to supply Ukraine with combat aircraft, which it proposed yesterday, noting that there are logistical complications regarding the transfer of aircraft from Poland to Ukraine.

Moreover, on the sanctions imposed on Russia and the relationship with China, she said that the initial assessment indicates Beijing’s commitment to sanctions against Moscow.

It is noteworthy that the US rejected a proposal from Warsaw for the US military to receive Polish Soviet-made MiG-29 fighters, to then take delivery of them to Ukraine after Poland offered to transfer all its MiG-29s to the Ramstein base and put them at the disposal of the US government.

The US was quick to reject the Polish offer, believing that it was an unworkable proposal despite the consultations.

In addition, experts say, the MiG-29 fighters were developed in the former Soviet Union, and since the Ukrainian army already uses Russian-made aircraft, this model would be the best option for Ukrainian pilots who already know how to operate it.
