“SPA” Wins Top Honors at 2025 Media Excellence Awards

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) won two categories of the 2025 Arab Media Excellence Award in its ninth edition, held under the title “Arab Youth and New Media.”

This came at the conclusion of the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, held today at the headquarters of the Arab League in Egypt, where the winners were announced in the presence of the Chairman of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Information Ministers, Khaled bin Abdulqader Al-Ghamdi, and Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Matar.

 

Digital Media

In the field of digital media, SPA received the award for Best Photo, taken by photographer Faisal Al-Wuhaimir, and the award for Best Investigative Report for an article titled “Youth Information Sources in the Digital Media Sphere” by reporter Bandari Hibram.

Amal Noufal from Palestine won Best Digital Video, while Kuwait Television won Best Television Report for its feature titled “Youth and Social Media,” and Iraq Television received the award for Best Documentary Film on digital youth.

In the field of radio broadcasting, Algerian Radio won Best Radio Report for its story “Social Media Youth and Artificial Intelligence,” and Egypt’s Youth and Sports Radio won the award for Best Youth Awareness Radio Report.

In print journalism, Emirati journalist Hazaa Abu Al-Reesi received the award for Best Investigative Report titled “Arab Youth and New Media,” and Jordan’s Al-Dustour newspaper won Best Opinion Column for an article on the impact of the spread of hate speech on youth.

 

 

Separately, the ministerial council honored Khaled bin Hamad Al-Malik, Editor-in-Chief of the Saudi newspaper Al-Jazirah; Ahmad Assaf, Minister and Supervisor of Palestinian Media; Ali Saleh Al-Sada, Director of Qatar Television; and Ibrahim Yaqub, Director of Development and Follow-up at Kuwait’s Ministry of Information.

Awards and honors were presented by Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit; Syrian Minister of Information Hamza Al-Mustafa, who chairs the current session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers; Kuwait’s Minister of Information Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi; and Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector at the Arab League.
