Saudi Arabia welcomes IAEA’s Board of Governors timely decision on Iran
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs hailed on Wednesday the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) Board of Governors’ decision on Iran.
Saudi Arabia has urged Iran to immediately cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency.IT expressed its hope that the Board of Governors’ member nations will fully support the IAEA and its director.
The IAEA’s Board of Governors passed a resolution denouncing Iran’s nuclear activities. The 35-nation council easily passed a resolution criticizing Iran for failing to explain why uranium traces were found at three unnamed locations.
30 nations voted in support of the organization’s Board of Governors resolution condemning Iran, while Russia and China voted against it and three countries abstained.
IAEA, US, UK, France, Germany urge Iran to fullfil obligations
After the International Atomic Energy Agency adopted a resolution criticizing Tehran’s lack of cooperation, the US, UK, France, and Germany issued a joint statement on Wednesday urging Iran to “fulfil its legal obligations and cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency,” while the French Foreign Ministry considered Iran’s lack of cooperation with the IAEA a cause for concern.
The four nations’ foreign ministries issued a statement applauding the International Atomic Energy Agency’s decision, which came “in reaction to Iran’s inadequate cooperation” with it on “serious and unresolved safeguards” related to its nuclear program.
