Saudi border guards thwart drug smuggling

The official spokesperson for the Border Guard, Lt. Col. Misfer bin Ghannam Al-Quraini revealed that the continuous follow-up to attempts to smuggle narcotic drugs across the borders of the land and sea kingdom of the southern regions (Jizan, Najran, Asir), andTabuk region.
This resulted during the month of Dhu al-Qi’dah in 1441 AH Attempts to smuggle a total of 937 kg of hashish, 18,893 kg of narcotic khat, 640,295 narcotic amphetamine, and 6,809 grams of narcotic opium, and arrested the 196 people involved, after monitoring their attempts to cross the borders of the Kingdom.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, “SPA”, Lt. Col. Al-Quraini explained that the accused persons and the narcotic drugs seized in their possession were referred to the competent authorities to complete the legal procedures against them.
The Spokesman emphasized that the border guardsmen continue to confront all smuggling attempts across the border, regardless of the variety of methods,and to confront all those who try to target the youth of the country and its capabilities with these toxins.
