- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

- 11/4 cups water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon rose water or orange blossom water (optional)

Instructions:
- Preheat your oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a square or rectangular baking dish with butter or oil.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the semolina, desiccated coconut, and sugar.
- Add wet ingredients: Add the yogurt, melted butter or ghee, baking powder, milk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Following this, mix well until all the ingredients are fully combined and you have a thick batter.
- Prepare batter: Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Score the cake: Using a knife, score the surface of the batter into diamond or square shapes. This will help the syrup penetrate the cake later.
- Garnish (optional): If using, place a slivered almond or whole blanched almond in the center of each scored piece.
- Bake the cake: Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

- Soak the cake: Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup evenly over the hot cake. After that, allow the cake to absorb the syrup for at least 30 minutes before serving.
