Saudi Aramco Lowers Jan. 2025 LPG Prices
Saudi Aramco has announced reductions in its official selling prices (OSPs) for propane and butane for January 2025.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the price of propane has been decreased by $10 per tonne, while butane prices have been reduced by $15 per tonne compared to the previous month.
Both propane and butane are forms of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), widely used for heating, as vehicle fuel, and as feedstock in the petrochemical industry. Their differing boiling points make them suitable for various applications.
Aramco’s LPG OSPs serve as key benchmarks for contracts across the Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions.
Demand for propane typically rises in winter due to its extensive use in home heating. This seasonal increase in demand often leads to price volatility, driven by the interplay of supply and demand. During colder months, heightened demand frequently causes prices to climb, underscoring fundamental market dynamics.
