Saudi Arabia warns US of an imminent Iranian attack

Saudi intelligence services have warned the United States of an imminent attack by Iran on targets in Saudi Arabia. This puts the US military and others in the Middle East on high alert, according to Saudi and American officials.

In response to the warning, Saudi Arabia, the United States, and several other neighboring countries have raised the alert level of their military forces. This is according to officials who did not provide further details on Saudi intelligence, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Saudi officials said that Iran is preparing to carry out attacks on both the kingdom and the Erbil governorate in Iraq. This is in an attempt to divert attention from the local protests that have swept the country since last September.

For its part, the White House National Security Council expressed concern about these warnings, stressing its readiness to respond if Iran carried out an attack.

A spokesman for the National Security Council said: “We remain in constant contact with the Saudis through military and intelligence channels, and we will not hesitate to act in defense of our interests and partners in the region.”

Iranian Demonstrations

Iranian authorities have struggled to quell the unrest that has occurred almost daily since Mahsa Amini’s death on September 16 while in police custody. This was for allegedly violating Iran’s strict rules on how women should dress in public. More than 200 people have been killed and more than 1,000 have been arrested.

As the unrest spread, Iranian officials blamed Iran’s enemies for instigating the unrest. This is a familiar tactic of the regime, which has blamed its opponents during previous domestic protests against the regime.

Previous Accusations

The United States and Saudi Arabia accused Iran of carrying out a drone and missile attack on the kingdom in 2019. This attack targeted the country’s oil industry, while Iran denied carrying out this attack.
