The ministry has now opened the draft for public consultation, inviting valuable feedback from citizens and residents.
Defining Professional Attire for Men
A key provision clearly distinguishes the attire for Saudi and non-Saudi male employees. The draft mandates Saudi men to wear the official national dress, the thawb with the ghutra or shemagh. This directive actively strengthens cultural heritage within the professional environment.
Conversely, the code requires non-Saudi men to wear a formal business suit. This measure effectively removes any ambiguity around business-casual standards. It ultimately ensures a consistent and formal appearance throughout the nation’s workforce.
The proposed regulations establish uniform modesty standards for all women in the workplace. Clothing must provide full body coverage and cannot be tight or transparent. These rules apply not only during work hours but also at official events and media appearances.
Moreover, the code outlines clear expectations for professional behavior and personal hygiene. It explicitly prohibits employees from wearing accessories that display political or offensive symbols. This policy actively maintains workplace neutrality and helps prevent potential conflicts.
