Saudi Arabia population surpasses the 35 million mark
A report issued by the General Authority for Statistics in Saudi Arabia revealed that the population surpassed the 35 million mark by the end of the first half of 2020 – 35,013,414 precisely.
The report did not show a distinction between Saudis and foreigners, as the previous one(2018) did not show the number of expats either, which is estimated at 12.6 million, constituting 38% of the Saudi population.
The population under 40 years old until mid-2020 reached 24,188,384, constituting 69.1% of the total, increased by 523,429 people compared to mid-2019.
Youth census
According to the report’s data, the age groups under 15 recorded an increase of 166,530 people, bringing their number in mid-2020 to 8,556,493 people, compared to 8,389,963 people in mid-2019, which indicates that the coming years will also witness more young residents.
Groups between 15 to 34 years witnessed an increase in just one year by 255,501 people, bringing their number to 11,823,262 by mid-2020, about 38% of the population of Saudi Arabia.
Categories over 40 years old
Those between 40 and 59 years numbered 8,905,708 people, 25.4% of the total population, as their number increased from 8,674,934 people in mid-2019, a numerical increase of 230,774 people.
As for those aged 60 years and above, they are 1,919,322 people, constituting only 5.5% of the total population of the Kingdom, despite their increase from 1,878,280 individuals in mid-2019, an increase of 40,042 people.
It is noteworthy that the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 aims to meet the Saudi youth needs in the upcoming years through plans and programs that will provide adequate housing and the necessary infrastructure of services in the face of population growth.
