Saudi Arabia has unveiled bold strides in building the region’s first coffee-producing city, a vast agricultural hub in Mashouqa, Al-Baha, according to Gulf News.
The city unfolds a new chapter for the Kingdom’s coffee industry, with over half a million coffee trees are already taking root.
Being the largest coffee farm in the Middle East, the site underscores the Kingdom’s determination to foster the cultivation of one of its most cherished national beverages.
Spanning more than 1.6 million square meters in the Kingdom’s southwest, the coffee city is currently planning to add another 100,000 trees.
To ensure large-scale production, the city features a dedicated factory, roastery, advanced irrigation systems, and modern transport infrastructure.

By advancing this project, Al-Baha has become Saudi Arabia’s first large-scale coffee producer, establishing itself as a major player in the Kingdom’s agricultural diversification strategy.
The “Coffee City” seeks to be the first in a series of specialized agricultural clusters across the region. Interestingly, the upcoming zones will be dedicated to mangoes, pomegranates, and honey —products deeply rooted in Al Baha’s farming traditions.
The Kingdom has a long history of coffee consumption due to the Saudi culture that considers coffee as an expression of hospitality and welcome. In 2021, the Saudi Ministry of Culture designated 2022 as “The Year of Saudi Coffee,” celebrating an integral part of the Kingdom’s social traditions.
