Palestinian Presidency praises Saudi support

Palestinian presidency welcomed recently the statements of Saudi FM Prince Faisal bin Farhan, who conditioned the relationship with Israel to a “just solution” to the Palestinian issue.

Nabil Shaath, a special advisor to the Palestinian president said that this is evidence of Saudi Arabia’s adherence to the Palestinian cause and Arab and international legitimacy.

Shaath stressed that Saudi Arabia has never changed its position on the Palestinian cause, nor in its commitment to the resolutions of Arab summits, especially those related to the Palestinian cause.

Bin Farhan’s statements came on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, in response to a question by the correspondent of the Israeli newspaper “Maariv” about the matter.

In response to a question for the Hebrew newspaper, Faisal bin Farhan said that if Israel’s integration into the region occurs without addressing the basic issues of the Palestinian people, and granting them respect and sovereignty through the establishment of a Palestinian state, the instability and danger to the security of Israel and the security of the entire region will continue.

He added that the incorporation of Israel, if these conditions are met, “Will Have a Benefit, not only for Israel but for the entire region.”

The minister added that “the priority now is to find arrangements that enable the Israelis and Palestinians to sit together to start a peace process that can be worked on,”.

He added that this would facilitate matters for countries that do not have relations with Israel.

The minister indicated that for Saudi Arabia, “this will happen when there is a just solution to the Palestinian issue.”
