KSA denies return of fingerprint biometric attendance system

The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development denied the rumors about the return of fingerprint biometric attendance at work .

It indicated that such an order is approved in coordination with the committee responsible for the precautionary measures for the Coronavirus.

 The ministry told the Saudi privately-run newspaper of “Okaz” that there are no arrangements at present to restore fingerprint devices in government agencies to prove attendance and departure for male and female employees.

It acknowledged that the matter is decided by the committee responsible for the precautionary measures for the Coronavirus,

 In the event of any developments, they will be published on the Ministry’s official website and its official social media accounts.

It is noteworthy that some government and private entities and sectors have suspended the fingerprint system since May 1, 2020,

 This date witnessed the return of work in government sectors with many preventive measures and precautions, most notably stopping the fingerprint and adopting flexible working hours, the shift system, and other procedures and controls that were put in place to limit the spread of the Coronavirus.
