Iran Should not Seek Ties, Cooperation with US: Khamenei

Iran has firmly rejected reports suggesting that Tehran has reached out to the United States for negotiations via a third country, according to Al Arabiya.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has described these reports as “a complete lie” during televised remarks broadcast on Thursday.

“They are creating rumors that Iran sent a message to America through some country – that is a complete lie,” Khamenei said.

He also noted that Tehran should not seek relations or cooperation with what he labeled as a “warmongering” US government.

Khamenei Criticizes US

Khamenei further accused Washington of starting the Russia-Ukraine war and criticized US President Donald Trump for failing to fulfill his promise to bring the conflict to an end.

“This current American president used to say that he would resolve the (Ukraine war) in three days. Nearly a year has passed, and now he is imposing a 28-point plan on the very country he brought into the war,” Khamenei said.

He also noted that America’s intervention in issues leads to war-mongering, genocide, destruction, and displacement.

12-Day War with Iran

Khamenei argued that the United States and Israel failed to achieve their goals of destructing Iran’s nuclear program during the 12-day war with Iran in June.

“Yes, we suffered losses, we lost dear lives… this is the nature of war. But the one who started the attack suffered more losses than we did,” he added.

Earlier this month, the Supreme Leader said that Tehran would not cooperate with the US as long as it supports Israel and keeps military bases in regional countries and interferes in the Middle East.

Nuclear Talks

Iran and the US held five rounds of nuclear talks before Israel targeted Iranian nuclear facilities on June 13.

However, these talks faced key stumbling blocks such as uranium enrichment on Iranian soil, a step met with utter rejection by European powers which claimed that Tehran is enriching uranium for unpeaceful purposes.

On September 28, the E3_ Britain, France, and Germany_ reimposed sanctions on Tehran after they claimed that Iran has violated a 2015 deal that aimed at halting it from developing a nuclear weapon.
