

The President of the Arab Parliament, Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, appreciated the efforts undertaken by the kingdom in Yemen. He also appreciates its relentless pursuit of a political solution that ends the conflict and ensures the achievement of regional peace and stability. The country’s initiative can put an end to the conflict in Yemen that is widely welcomed by the UN Security Council.
In his address, the president praised the Security Council’s call for Yemeni parties to cooperate in implementing the Riyadh Agreement’s provisions in order to achieve a substantive settlement and a diplomatic solution to ensure the country’s security and stability.
He pointed out that it is a step that comes within the framework of urging the international community to move towards the region’s issues and carry out its responsibilities in maintaining peace and security.
Last March, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced its initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive political solution by including a comprehensive ceasefire under the supervision of the United Nations.
The initiative proposes that Sanaa International Airport be opened to a number of direct regional and international flights, as well as the launch of UN-sponsored consultations between Yemeni parties to find a political solution to the country’s crisis. It is based on UN Security Council Resolution 2216, the Gulf Initiative, and the Gulf Initiative’s implementation process.
It is focused on UN Security Council Resolution 2216 references, the Gulf Initiative and its implementation process, and the outcomes of the substantive Yemeni national dialogue.
The approach comes within the framework of the continuous support for the efforts of the United Nations Special Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths and the US envoy to Yemen Timothy Lenderking, the role of the Sultanate of Oman, and the advancement of efforts to reach a political solution.
